Shelter Advert YEAR 2

- Shelter is a charity for homelessness - close up-eye level, direct address - Direct Address creates a strong connection between the audience and and the person in the shot (equal connection) - Unusual placement of caption on top of the face, it is also transparents. This might reflect urgency of the situation and the fact that the publishers want us to connect with the emotive text due to its placement near the eyes. - Red: connotes danger and urgency. - Red  connotes STOP which could suggest that metaphorical barriers prevent them from getting housing. - No set ethnicity (you never know where they could be from), yet still all hold the same facial expressions shows that homelessness does not discriminate against who it affects or comes into contact with (anyone can be homeless) and regardless of ethnicity, age or gender homelessness effects everyone in the same negative way. - 3 associated issues presented around homelessness:  - losing job  - unethical landl...

This is abuse-case study

https://youtu.be/RzDr18UYO18 - The audience for this advert is young girls who are in abusive relationships, to educate them that this should not be happening. The audience could also be young girls in general, as to let them know that if they get into a relationship and see these signs, they need to protect themselves and get out of that relationship. The audience could also be young boys to teach them that this is not the way they should treat women. - This advert was created by the government (conservative and liberal democrat coalition government) in order to raise awareness of abusive relationships in adolescents. - The techniques they used in order to make the audience bound to agree is the fact that they made sure the boy was portrayed in a negative way, belittling the girl and physically abusing her. This would make the audience see that the boy is almost the villain and the girl is the damsel in distress. They also made the boy look in on himself treating the girl in thi...

How to google like a pro

In order to do research for a product or company, reliable sources of secondary data need to be available.  Ways to google/research reliably like a pro: 1) Avoid websites with unofficial URL endings (endings that are not .org, .Gov etc these are not usually recognized institutions). They would be user generated material. 2) Do not always rely on Wikipedia, as a starting point for research. As Wikipedia can be accessed and edited by anyone which increases the likelihood of some facts being false. Check your facts using footnotes. 3) Try and gravitate more towards information that has been written by someone in the industry you are researching for. The likelihood of this information being false is very low.

Kingsmill advert analysis

Advertising and gender

Image
I am analyzing two print adverts for perfume. One of them is the Victoria secrets very sexy temptation perfume and the other is the Avril Lavigne Black start perfume They both present the female gender in two different ways. One conforms to society's patriarchal and stereotypical views on the role of women and the norm of how women are presented in the media, however the other challenges those stereotypes and conveys women in an opposing perspective. Drawing on the two titles firstly, it is clear that the Victoria secrets perfume print advert sexualizes Women and objectifies them using sexual language. 'very sexy temptation' connotes sexual pleasure and provocation. This gives the message that women are almost 'objects' centered around sexual activity and that women should present themselves in a way that makes them 'tempting' and 'unable to resist'. This is degrading as it conforms to a patriarchal society's views that women are basicall...

Advertising

• W hat are the main challenges faced by the    advertising industry? The main challenges faced by the advertising industry today is advertising products to an audience without putting them off and making them not want to pay attention to the adverts. Another challenge is that adverts are no longer eye catching and interesting to the audience, so a lot of people view them as boring and frustrating to watch. This may be due to the way they are shot nowadays or what sort of messages the audience are getting from the adverts.  • What is native advertising/ branded       content and targeted advertising. Native advertising is advertising in disguise. People watch things that appear as though they are stories, short films, videos or TV programmes, when really they are promoting a product or service. Branded content is when companies use vehicles like films and TV programmes to advertise their products. It is the placement of the product in the ...

Synopsis of the Guardian article

The Guardians article addressed the issues with television adverts and how, due to the arrival of the internet, television adverts no longer serve their purposes of advertising as people would rather ignore the television ads and pay attention when the actual TV shows are on.

Induction:Task one

Image
Today's induction task was to create an advert for either teabags or a broom. My group, which consisted of James and Daniyal, chose the teabags option.  We created a plan of what we wanted in our advert and when each aspect of our advert would take place. We wanted to create a cinematic atmosphere in our advert and really allow the tea to speak for itself. We decided to plan to take several shots of the making of a cup of tea, really drawing attention to the part when a teabag touches the water, the herbs infuse the water and the pretty swirls of colour that appear before the water goes brown. This allows the audience to see the tea as a beautiful thing. We also want to include a mini role-play which includes a man who is feeling not so confident, depressed and is looking ragged in appearance: he drinks the cup of tea and then he appears in a nice suit, is looking more confident and is generally much more of a gentleman. The idea is that the tea gave the man the confidence an...
