Give a definition of cross-platform gaming

Cross-platform gaming is when different platforms have a single version of a game. For example, a single version of minecraft across all these platforms like Xbox, IOS and Android. 

Why is Microsoft's "better Together" update so exciting for the gaming world?

Microsoft's "better together" update is so exciting for the gaming world because it means that you have the ability to play a game with a friend on an Xbox, while your other friend joins in on an android phone. It makes cross-play easier as they don't have to be playing from the exact same device. 

Why might there be concerns over online child protection?

Cross-platform makes it easier for people without certain systems (Xbox or play station) to still enjoy gaming. However, this also makes it easier for children to have access to more types of games (especially as smartphones are devices which are included in the cross-platform play), these include adult-rated games. Regulating people's behaviour would be difficult and its hard to report people's behaviour if so many people are playing.

What is the future for cross-platform gaming, in your opinion? What are the pros and cons for the games developers and the audience?

Pros:

- Anyone can play together from different devices
- More people can enjoy the vast majority of games and companies get more supporters for their games.
- Games developers are able to keep up to date with the changes in technology

Cons:

- Children are at risk as it is now easier to get a hold of non-age appropriate games
- Behavior regulation gets harder
- some games are easier with a controlla, so it will be hard to play with someone on a PC with a mouse
- Games developers will find it difficult to cross-play certain games with devices (Microsoft having trouble cross-playing minecraft and play station). This leads to upset fans who have the devices the developers are finding hard to cross-play.

        Dominant and Patriarchal Ideologies about women: Weak, dependent, passive, housewives, kitchen chained, not career driven, sex objects etc. The oppositional reading that the Big issue holds: strong, driven, has her won mind, not presented in a sexually provocative way, not domesticated etc. Another Dominant/patriarchal Ideology: Men can't be feminists and understand emotional topics. The Big Issue's reading: Men can understand and join the movement for equal gender rights, by being feminists.
