    Please indicate who has done each slide. This is a coherent and complete analysis. You have applied media language appropriately and you have looked at editing, camera, sound and mise en scene. You also consider context and connotations throughout the analysis, thinking about how the adverts are appropriate to a particular historical / cultural moment. I would have liked to see a summary comparison slide. Vanessa

Shelter Advert YEAR 2

- Shelter is a charity for homelessness - close up-eye level, direct address - Direct Address creates a strong connection between the audience and and the person in the shot (equal connection) - Unusual placement of caption on top of the face, it is also transparents. This might reflect urgency of the situation and the fact that the publishers want us to connect with the emotive text due to its placement near the eyes. - Red: connotes danger and urgency. - Red  connotes STOP which could suggest that metaphorical barriers prevent them from getting housing. - No set ethnicity (you never know where they could be from), yet still all hold the same facial expressions shows that homelessness does not discriminate against who it affects or comes into contact with (anyone can be homeless) and regardless of ethnicity, age or gender homelessness effects everyone in the same negative way. - 3 associated issues presented around homelessness:  - losing job  - unethical landl...

It is published by its company called Shortlist Media Ltd. Shortlists audience is mainly professional males "building their careers and relationships". Shortlist is an independent company that is turning conglomerate. Shortlist is a global magazine that features both overseas and in the UK. Biggest selling magazine in the UK (roughly half a million circulation per week). The women's shortlist magazine is called stylist. The Big Issue is a street newspaper that was founded by John Bird and Gordon Roddick. It was founded in 1991 September. It is an independent company. It is not a conglomerate.
