Who decides the radio one playlist?

The playlist team for Radio 1 have a pre playlist meeting on mondays and decide various different metrics to help them filter down what records they should be discussing in the main playlist meeting and which records they should be taking off the current playlist that week, because they need to refresh it every week. They discuss what is really connecting with the audience as well as looking at various metrics to decide what music should stay and what music should go. This presents a predetermined  of what we should bring up in the playlist meeting. Then on the tuesday for the main playlist meeting itself they present the final tracks to the rest of the committee.  They also ask the committee in advance what records they would like to come up on the playlist before they feedback.

Shelter Advert YEAR 2

- Shelter is a charity for homelessness - close up-eye level, direct address - Direct Address creates a strong connection between the audience and and the person in the shot (equal connection) - Unusual placement of caption on top of the face, it is also transparents. 1 Theoretical perspective to Big Issue cover

        Dominant and Patriarchal Ideologies about women: Weak, dependent, passive, housewives, kitchen chained, not career driven, sex objects etc. The oppositional reading that the Big issue holds: strong, driven, has her won mind, not presented in a sexually provocative way, not domesticated etc. Another Dominant/patriarchal Ideology: Men can't be feminists and understand emotional topics. The Big Issue's reading: Men can understand and join the movement for equal gender rights, by being feminists. "Pink stinks" suggests that the Big issue think that gender directed clothes and the socialization of children from young to conform to the idea of gender roles is wrong. They are using this statement as a call to action. The fact that the women on the cover is a black women, shows the diversity in a postmodern society.
