postmodern music video analysis GOODWIN'S FRAMEWORK FOR ANALYSIS

https://youtu.be/gl1aHhXnN1k  = Thank you next Ariana Grande The most iconic thing about the music video is all the intertextuality in it. Ariana pays homage to Disney's mean girls, Bring it on, 13 going on 30 and legally blonde. She also includes famous celebrities like kris Jenner and you tubers like Gabi Demartino. Intertextuality is a popular feature in postmodern and conceptual music videos. The artist is either paying homage, pastiche or parodying other people's work. The video may not have a set meaning, but thats one of the  features of post modern music videos, its more about look than meaning. Mood The general mood of the music video is a happy and uplifting one. It is full of bright colours and bold aesthetics that lift up the audience and make them want to join the music video. The video creates sexual tension as Ariana's body language and facial expressions at times can be flirtatious and sexual. The parts where kris Jenner appears creates comedic atmo...

1 Theoretical perspective to Big Issue cover

Image
Dominant and Patriarchal Ideologies about women: Weak, dependent, passive, housewives, kitchen chained, not career driven, sex objects etc. The oppositional reading that the Big issue holds: strong, driven, has her won mind, not presented in a sexually provocative way, not domesticated etc. Another Dominant/patriarchal Ideology: Men can't be feminists and understand emotional topics. The Big Issue's reading: Men can understand and join the movement for equal gender rights, by being feminists. "Pink stinks" suggests that the Big issue think that gender directed clothes and the socialization of children from young to conform to the idea of gender roles is wrong. They are using this statement as a call to action. The fact that the women on the cover is a black women, shows the diversity in a postmodern society. The Women's pose denotes a flexing of the bicep muscle. This connotes strength and a desire to fight for women's rights. Modern da...

When the are having a conversation and Mj saids "It's just a movie", the movement changes to a over the shoulder shot during their conversation. When they are walking past the graveyard, the camera does a ascending tracking movement, giving the audience a clear view of the graveyard location. The camera then shifts to a long shot of Mj and the girl surrounded by the dead people. The camera then shifts to a mid-shot, showing their frightened facial expressions as they are circled by the monsters. The camera then shifts to a mid-shot of the frightened girl, which then immediately shifts to a mid-shot of MJ....transformed. The camera then goes back to the girl in a mid-shot to capture her terrified reaction, then changes back to Mj in a ...

The Jungle book marketing

Image
One of the ways the Jungle book 2016 remake was marketing was through posters . This introduced people to the visuals of the film as well as the characters. The first poster kind of foreshadows the close relationship and bond that bagheera and Mowgli forms in the film. https://youtu.be/HcgJRQWxKnw  Another marketing strategy that they used was trailers. This teases the audience and introduces them to what they can expect from the film. In the first trailer, the b
